An ugly bumpy surface on the ceiling
present in majority of Canadian houses. The day I have moved to my
new house in Canada I asked myself, what is that strange thing the on
the ceiling? It reminds me of a ...sheep. Lot of people simply hate
this. My personal opinion is that it makes an interior look smaller
and crowded. But do not worry - you do not have to live with popcorn ceiling!!!
Someone told me that its purpose is to cover imperfections on the surface of the ceiling. Well, maybe yes, but I have decided to get rid of it anyway.
If you also would like to remove popcorn ceiling, all you will need is: small ladder, water sprayer, plastic scraper and a tray for collecting falling off paint.
First you spray the ceiling with the water - when is wet it will come off very easily - next step is to scrape "bumps" very gently. Please be careful and make sure that you do not scour the surface under the "popcorn". At the same time, try to collect all falling pieces into the tray. It can be a little tricky, but is possible to do. When everything is off, wipe the ceiling with a clean, wet cloth. Then wait until is completely dry and start to paint.
I just love my smooth ceilings - they added some freshness to the rooms and the interiors seem to be more spacious now.

It is a bit messy, but I have to admit that it is worth it.
